Since The launch of our safe and clean water initiatives program, we have provided over one million households in Kenya with safe drinking water. This is no mean achievement given that we are a social venture. And this has been achieved due to concerted efforts of different team players and partnerships.
One such team is our dedicated ambassadors who ensure our reach to the last mile person. They are the face and link of the company to the people. Their love for the service we give as an organization is unrivaled
and admirable. Despite the myriad challenges, they have always ensured that our operations run smoothly
A particular challenge comes to mind. We were running a project covering Homabay and Migori counties. This was in partnership with AquaClara and Basic Water Needs with support from Aquaforall. The vast area of operation was a big challenge to our field manager Mercy especially in the process of distribution of water filters to the ambassadors. One day she was delivering filters from our office in Awendo to two ambassadors in the areas of Asumbi and Sondu. On their way, they had a slight accident with an oncoming car that left their front mirror broken. They then had a run in with traffic police officers who booked them for traffic offence of driving with a broken mirror. It took almost 3 hours to secure their release and Mercy was getting to Sondu at almost 7.00 pm. By all means she had to travel back that same night since she had a training session with a group early the next morning. She was getting home way past mid night.
Back in Nairobi office we were a worried lot for her safety. It was a great relief when she sent a text message saying “safely home” .
And yes she was in the office by 7:00 am in readiness for the 8:00 am water safety training.
The positiveness, the determination and the pleasure to serve is what builds Japmor. And this only happens because the social impact begins with you our ambassadors.
